Celebrating 40 Years of Ending Homelessness

On Thursday, May 14th Urban Pathways held its Benefit to End Homelessness at the Grand Hyatt NYC, celebrating 40 years of ensuring that homeless and at-risk New Yorkers have the housing, services and support they need to be self-sufficient. Hundreds of supporters filled the Grand Ballroom to support Urban Pathways vision to end Homelessness.

The night started with a cocktail reception and silent auction where guests bid on 70 auction lots, raising a record breaking $51,316!

Keith Berger, Urban Pathways Board President, welcomed everyone to the benefit and introduced the night’s Emcee Cady Huffman, Tony Award -winning actress. Cady then entertained one and all with her amazing voice, followed by opening remarks from Frederick Shack, Urban Pathways’ Executive Director.

After dinner the First Annual Parade of Partners commenced. The Parade told the Urban Pathways’ story and the work it does from a variety of partners including clients, staff, Board members and the Junior Board. After the moving parade Auctioneer Stephanie Landess conducted the cash call which raised a record breaking $77,000!

This year’s honoree and recipient of the ‘Give It All You Got Award’ was Trisha Lawson, COO, Global Banking and Markets, Bank of America Merrill Lynch. She joined the Board of Directors 4 years ago and last July became Secretary and joined the Nominating Committee. With a group of other very talented and dedicated Board members, Trisha represents the best of what is ahead for Urban Pathways.

The night was closed with a performance by Cady Huffman.

The event brought in over $550,000. One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the Gala will be used to fulfill our mission— to ensure that homeless and at-risk New Yorkers have the housing, services and support they need to be self-sufficient.
